What started just 2 months ago as a group of committed individuals coming together to highlight the plight of girls who are not able to get their right to an education has become pretty much a ‘Movement’. A movement of like minded individuals and organizations happy to contribute their time, energies and resources to send out the message loud and clear: Girls in Pakistan need to Rise!
Girl Rising Pakistan has taken the initiative to host a two week girl education advocacy and fund raising campaign in Pakistan, through the screening of the internationally acclaimed film “Girl Rising” in December, 2013.
The movie features well known celebrities including Anne Hathaway, Salma Hayek, Priyanka Chopra, Alicia Keys, Frieda Pinto, Meryl Streep and many more.
With a dedicated team consisting of Roohi Abdullah (lead & initiator), Alizeh Amer, Amer Zahoor, Ayesha Amer, Farhan Javed, Fatima Akhtar, Seema Jaffer and Arif Abdullah, who have been working tirelessly to put launches and advocacy campaigns together in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad, it will be an event that not everyone will be able to forget that easily.
Keeping all of the above in mind, we thought at the SEPLAA Foundation that since Girl Rising Pakistanhas highlighted an area of great common interest , the time is right to highlight the drive of other forums together as well who believe in bringing important messages home through innovation.
